I watched the first two or three episodes. I thought it was interesting but could have lived without the gore and overt violence. Gore and violence are neither scary nor interesting to me. I also dislike waiting week-to-week for a continuing story; I prefer to get entire seasons on Netflix. Maybe I'll give it another try. Horror in general isn't my genre.
well the other day we dropped daughter back to her mother, after what was a fabulous whole week with me.. sitting on the verandah of the house is grandpa jw, about 80 and recently widowed.
now, he is my ex father in law and we got on very good back in the day, even helped build his house.. anyway, i drop daughter off and i am looking at the man, who in the whole 10 mins that he sat there, gave one cursory glance our way as i stood on the footpath opposite the house talking to my kids.. this is a guy who will talk the leg off a chair, a guy who will start a conversation with a total stranger in the street, the man is a talker.. i mention to wife as we departed..."poor bastard, not even 'allowed' to say hello the father of his grandkids''.
if i was not d/f i know he would have come over, no doubt whatsoever.
This is actually good news all around, except for the ex-father-in-law. Poor sap.
Glad you had a good week with your daughter and your wife got to see the Borg in action. Does your daughter notice the injustice and idiocy of shunning, too? I'd be interested in reading an update on how your kids are doing. (If I missed a thread, I apologize.)

.to know that my "worldly" father will die of old age, rather than be destroyed forever at armageddon.
now that you have escaped the twisted jw worldview, what do you find comforting?.
Great post, Flat_Accent. I agree 100%.
i didn't want to waste post # 1,000 on arguing with someone, so i just wanted to celebrate my five years on jwn and two years of active posting.
in that time, i've gone from being a believer to fading hard core and taking my wife and kids with me.
i credit this site with being instrumental in our leaving.
Congratulations Baltar! You're one of my favorite peeps, bro!
bare with me on this post.
i just need to get it off my chest!.
i find it interesting that in so many threads here in this forum and in others, to find the reference to apostates.
If you leave a religion you are an apostate to that religion. Just because it is loaded language in Watchtower world doesn't mean it's a bad word.

I find it comforting to know that I now have the ability to reason and think. I find it comforting that I have made real friends that won't abandon me based on my thoughts on invisible people.
the bible profecied that judas (although not named) would betray jesus.
the bible also says i think that it was the devil or gods bad spirt that enter judas and caused him to do what he did?
if judas hadn't then there would have been no betrayal and no sacrifice therefore.
I prefer the gnostic version of Judas. He and Jesus were in cahoots. Makes a lot more sense and a much better story.
this from my issue of time that arrived today: "'when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father, who is unseen.
' this passage from the gospel of matthew was quoted by many readers who object to tim tebow's showy displays of his faith on the football field ... " "hey tebowers," wrote bill de armond of winfikeld, kans.
"what part of matthew 6:5-8 do you not understand?".
Every time I think to myself how much of a douche that goober and others like him are, I remember the power of cults and how I was a devoted JDub who thought Joe Hoover's holy spirit guided the crap I was doing.
BTTT. No luck yet.
